Yas Waterworld Expansion Reaches 55% Completion Milestone

Exciting Developments in the Yas Waterworld Expansion

Miral, the leading developer of immersive destinations in Abu Dhabi, has announced that the Yas Waterworld expansion is now over 55 percent complete.

Since its opening in 2013, Yas Waterworld has been themed around the UAE’s rich pearl-diving heritage. The Yas Waterworld expansion draws inspiration from a mythical village filled with hidden treasures, secret passages, and engaging attractions.

Set to launch in 2025, this impressive 16,900-square-metre expansion will feature 18 exhilarating new rides and attractions, along with 3.3 kilometres of slide sections.

Among the highlights are the UAE’s tallest slide and the first water-based amusement ride integrated into a waterslide complex, boasting a thrilling 15-metre drop.

Additional features of the development include a swim-up bar, a boat ride, racing and tube slides, family raft rides, and a duelling master blaster. Furthermore, Miral plans to introduce smaller versions of the park’s most iconic rides specifically designed for younger guests.

The expansion will also incorporate eight new pools and various food and beverage outlets. Once completed, the water park will offer over 70 rides and experiences.

Jonathan Brown, Miral’s chief portfolio officer, stated: “This expansion, building on Yas Waterworld’s popularity with both local and international visitors over the past decade, reaffirms our commitment to constantly elevating Yas Island’s position as a top global destination for entertainment and leisure.”

“We are thrilled to be providing our guests from around the world an enriched and exciting new experience.”

Immersive Expansion Opens in 2025

Key construction milestones for the Yas Waterworld expansion include over 67 percent of the concrete being poured and 25 percent of the steel columns installed.

“This expansion marks another addition to our world-class attractions and experiences on Yas Island, and a testament to achieving our vision of positioning it as a top global destination for entertainment and leisure,” remarked Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi last year.

“We are proud to be contributing to the development of Abu Dhabi’s ecosystem and economic diversification, while further enhancing its global appeal as a tourism hub.”
