WhiteWater Earns ISO 14001 Certification and Launches Impact Report
WhiteWater is thrilled to announce that we have successfully attained ISO 14001 Certification in November 2024, making us the only supplier in our product categories to hold this certification. To mark this achievement, we have also published our inaugural impact report, which outlines our environmental, social, supply chain, and governance initiatives. Through both the certification and the report, we aim to highlight that the manner in which we conduct our business is as crucial as the products we create.
Why ISO 14001 Certification and What Is the Scope?
The ISO 14001 Certification is a globally recognised standard that offers a comprehensive framework for enhancing environmental performance. This certification signifies our commitment to actively reducing our environmental impact by focusing on critical areas such as resource utilisation, waste management, and operational efficiency. We strive to ensure that while we bring joy and excitement to our clients and their guests, we also protect the environment we all share.
“Over the past four years, our teams have made substantial progress in implementing the metrics and actions outlined in this report,” stated Una de Boer, Chief Marketing Officer at WhiteWater and our sustainability executive sponsor. “This internationally recognised certification aligns seamlessly with our continuous improvement methodologies and has enabled us to document our processes for greater transparency and evolution.”
Our current certification scope encompasses the management of environmental risks linked to product development and design (including water slides, interactive water play, and water rides), marketing, sales, manufacturing, logistics, installation, and servicing within the amusement parks and attractions sector, originating from our head office.
In the future, we aim to broaden the scope of our ISO 14001 Certification to encompass additional areas of our business as well as our international offices.
Approaching Our Work Responsibly: WhiteWater’s First Impact Report
Our inaugural Impact Report showcases our dedication to conducting our business in an ethical and sustainable manner. It addresses four key areas:
- Environment, including our ISO 14001 Certification, waste management, FRP end-of-life research, and industry engagement
- Supply chain management, focusing on responsible sourcing and vendor compliance
- Social responsibility, encompassing human resources, charitable initiatives, and DEIB efforts
- Governance, detailing our values, corporate structure, risk management, and our commitment to longevity
This document serves as a progress report as we continuously strive for excellence in all our endeavours. We hope it illustrates the lengths we go to ensure that the enjoyment we create with our products does not come at the expense of the environment.
Looking Ahead—Building a Sustainable Future Together
A detailed carbon assessment is currently in progress and is anticipated to be completed by 2025. In conjunction with this, we are developing a certified measurement system that aligns with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol methodology. We have also refined our Sustainability Scorecard targets, with net zero now specifically defined as net-zero carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. Our updated milestone goals include:
- Net-zero emissions for Scope 1 and 2 by 2030
- Net-zero emissions for Scope 3 upstream by 2040
- Net-zero emissions for Scope 3 downstream by 2045
For us, sustainability is not merely a responsibility; it is an integral part of the value we provide to you. Together, we can create attractions that are not only innovative but also environmentally responsible, paving the way for a brighter future for generations to come.
