Understanding the Raw Materials Used in Water Park Equipment

Water park equipment is the cornerstone of any water park, regardless of its size or type. These pieces of equipment come in various shapes and sizes, but what exactly are they made of? This is a question that intrigues many water park investors. Let’s delve into the details.

Water park equipment raw materials

Water park equipment typically utilises composite materials. But what exactly is a composite material? In this context, it refers to a new type of material created by combining a series of chemical raw materials such as glass fibre and resin in specific proportions.

Why use composite materials instead of just glass fibre? While glass fibre boasts high strength, low material usage, low cost, and a simple process, it has its limitations. A single type of glass fibre, despite its high strength, is loose between the fibres. It can only handle tension and cannot withstand bending or shear stress. Additionally, it is not easy to mould into a fixed geometric shape, making it loose and soft. However, when combined with synthetic resin, these issues are resolved. The resulting composite material can be moulded into various solid products with fixed properties, capable of handling tensile and shear stress, as well as twists, shrinkage, and shear.

This composite glass fibre, known as “glass reinforced plastic” (FRP), has the same strength as steel and is rich in glass components. It offers glass-like colour, shape, corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, and heat insulation. FRP is widely used in the industry as an ideal substitute for some metal and plastic products, saving metal resources and reducing plastic pollution. It is commonly used to manufacture machine parts, automobile and ship shells, doors and windows, and special building materials.

Almost all the various types of water park equipment we see in water parks, such as the Magic Hole slide, Tornado water slide, Super Bowl slide, and Freefall slide, are made from FRP. The traditional process for manufacturing water park equipment involves spraying (paste), but a more advanced process known as RTM vacuum injection is now available. Lanchao Amusement has mastered this advanced technology, producing a large number of finished products for major water parks. For more information on this, please contact us.
