Latin America boasts a variety of theme parks and water parks, including notable attractions like Six Flags Mexico and Aquaventure in the Bahamas. In 2023, the top 10 Latin America theme parks welcomed a remarkable 12.8 million visitors, while the leading 10 water parks attracted a total of 12 million guests. This marks a significant increase from 2022, when the visitor numbers for theme parks and water parks in the region were 10 million and 10.1 million, respectively, indicating a positive trend in the industry.

Water parks in Latin America are thriving, with five parks exceeding the 1 million visitor mark in 2023. The attendance figures and rankings provided below are sourced from the latest TEA/AECOM Theme Index. 1. Beto Carrero World, Santa Catarina, Brazil

Beto Carrero World is located in Penha, Santa Catarina, and is the largest amusement park in Latin America. It features nine themed areas and over 100 attractions, including thrilling rides, coasters, family-friendly options, and live shows. Highlights include a Disney-inspired castle, a zoo with more than 700 animals, a Ferris wheel, and opportunities for character photos. The park also offers a visitor train, cable railway, restaurants, cafés, and shops.

In 2023, Beto Carrero World introduced its first-ever Nerf-themed land, Nerf Mania, a 14,000-square-metre zone featuring family-friendly rides, a themed restaurant, and a Nerf shop. “This fully immersive experience really leans into the social, active play lifestyle that Nerf has been known for over its nearly 55-year history,” said Matt Proulx, vice president of global experiences at Hasbro.

Attendance in 2023 reached 2,792,000, up from 2,327,000 in 2022.

2. Six Flags Mexico, Tlalpan, Mexico

Situated in the Tlalpan forest and borough of Mexico City, Six Flags Mexico is operated by Six Flags and features attractions such as Supergirl Sky Flight, X-Flight, and the Wonder Woman Coaster. Supergirl Sky Flight is a swing tower ride, while X-Flight is a wing coaster, both of which opened in 2015. The park’s latest addition, CraZanity, is the world’s tallest pendulum ride, reaching heights of over 50 metres and speeds exceeding 120 km/h.

Following a merger with Cedar Fair in 2024, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation now operates 27 theme parks, 15 water parks, and nine resort properties across 17 states in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The new Six Flags plans to invest over $1 billion in the next two years.

Attendance in 2023 was 2,021,000, compared to 1,727,000 in 2022.

3. Thermas dos Laranjais, Brazil

Thermas dos Laranjais is the most visited water park in Latin America and ranks second globally as of 2023. Opened in 1987, it features the largest complex of thrilling waterslides in Brazil, located in the northern part of São Paulo state. The park boasts over 60 attractions and more than 30 food and beverage outlets across 300,000 square metres, including waterslides, surfing facilities, pools, rivers, and family-friendly offerings.

WhiteWater has created five of the leading attractions at Thermas dos Laranjais, including an impressive tower with two groundbreaking six-person raft rides. In 2023, the park recorded an attendance of 1,954,000, up from 1,729,000 in 2022.

4. Aquaventure, Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas

Atlantis Aquaventure is a tropical water park in the Bahamas that opened in 1994 and is now the leading aquatic attraction in the region on TripAdvisor. The park features attractions such as the Mayan Temple, which includes a series of rides and slides, as well as a river ride with waves, rapids, tidal surges, steam, and waterfalls.

Aquaventure contains over 20 million gallons of water, 20 swimming areas, and 11 swimming pools. There are three Atlantis Aquaventure water parks globally, located in the Bahamas, China, and the UAE. In 2025, a California-based real estate development company plans to build a $2 billion Atlantis resort in Hawaii, marking the first in the US.

Attendance in 2023 was 1,891,000, compared to 1,751,000 in 2022.

5. Xcaret Park, Quintana Roo, Mexico

Parque Xcaret features over 40 attractions set in the jungle, caves, and underground rivers of Mexico, including an aquarium and archaeological sites. Owned by Grupo Xcaret, a pioneer in sustainable tourism, the park operates alongside others in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, such as Xplor and Xel-Há.

Grupo Xcaret’s parks business began in 1984 when Miguel Quintana Pali transformed 12 acres in the Riviera Maya into Xcaret. The group combines archaeology, culture, ecology, and entertainment, welcoming its 50 millionth visitor in 2019.

Attendance in 2023 reached 1,637,000, up from 1,399,000 in 2022.

6. Hot Park, Rio Quente, Brazil

Hot Park is situated at the Rio Quente Resort, one of Brazil’s largest resorts. Covering 55,000 square metres, the park features an aviary with over 200 birds and more than 17 attractions in natural thermal waters, including thrilling rides like AeroBike and Xpirado, as well as relaxing options like a lazy river.

Attendance in 2023 was 1,600,000, compared to 1,430,000 in 2022.

7. Hacienda Napoles Theme Park, Antioquia, Colombia

New to our list is Hacienda Napoles, a theme park destination near Medellin, Colombia, which was once the estate of the late drug baron Pablo Escobar. After falling into disrepair, it reopened as a visitor attraction in 2007 with an initial investment of $10 million. Hacienda Napoles features several areas, including a theme park with coasters and Colombia’s tallest drop tower, a wildlife sanctuary with hippos, and a water park with giant slides and pools.

Attendance in 2023 reached 1,200,000, up from 1,000,000 in 2022.

8. Hot Beach Olímpia, Brazil

Hot Beach Olímpia is among the top five water parks in Latin America, featuring over 20 aquatic attractions, from thrilling slides to a lazy river. Operated by Hot Beach Parques & Resorts, the park is part of the Hot Beach Resort, which includes an artificial beach and a hot spring bath.

Attendance in 2023 was 1,035,000, compared to 914,000 in 2022.

9. Mundo Aventura, Bogotá, Colombia

Mundo Aventura is located in Bogotá and opened in 1998. The park features thrill rides such as Sky Coaster, Xtreme, and Crazy Jump, alongside family-friendly attractions like a carousel and bumper cars. Mundo Aventura also provides playgrounds and soft play areas for children.

Attendance in 2023 reached 1,015,000, up from 752,000 in 2022.

10. Fantasilandia, Santiago, Chile

Fantasilandia has expanded significantly since its opening in 1978, now featuring numerous attractions in O’Higgins Park, Santiago. The park includes roller coasters like Mining Train and Boomerang, as well as family-friendly rides such as Bumper Boats and Dragon Mountain.

Attendance in 2023 was 961,000, compared to 850,000 in 2022.

11. Piscilago, Girardot (Bogotá), Colombia

Piscilago is a popular attraction near Melgar, Colombia, featuring a water park, zoo, and conservation areas. The water park includes 21 ProSlide water rides, establishing Piscilago as a key destination in Latin America.

Attendance in 2023 reached 914,000, up from 816,000 in 2022.

12. Mundo Petapa, Guatemala

Mundo Petapa is a top amusement park in Guatemala City, inaugurated in 1976 and capable of accommodating 12,500 daily visitors. The park features a swimming pool, zoo, and theatre, with a new coaster called Relámpago added in 2019.

Attendance in 2023 was 912,000, compared to 800,000 in 2022.

13. Xocomil Water Park, Retalhuleu, Guatemala

Xocomil Water Park is the largest water park in Guatemala, featuring attractions inspired by Mayan heritage, including swimming pools, wave pools, and waterslides. WhiteWater has supplied various water attractions for Xocomil.

Attendance in 2023 reached 900,000, up from 833,000 in 2022.

14. Beach Park, Aquiraz, Brazil

Beach Park is a popular water park and resort located on the beach of Porto das Dunas in Aquiraz, Brazil. Covering 170,000 square metres, the resort features restaurants, hotels, aquatic attractions, and an artificial river for transporting guests to the water park.

Attendance in 2023 was 900,000, compared to 782,000 in 2022.

15. Thermas de São Pedro, Brazil

Rounding out our list of the top theme parks and water parks in Latin America is Thermas de São Pedro. This highly popular attraction features waterslides, family-friendly pools, the largest wave pool in São Paulo, and a water playground for children, along with entertainment options and a small farm.

Attendance in 2023 reached 867,000, up from 753,000 in 2022.
