Therme Manchester’s Enhanced Design Delays Opening

Delay in Opening of Therme Manchester as Design Enhancements are Made

The launch of Therme Manchester, a new £250 million water park and wellbeing resort in the UK, has encountered delays.

Initially set to open in 2025, Therme Manchester will boast a variety of features including saunas, an urban wellbeing garden, an indoor beach, a water park, mineral pools, botanical gardens, a spa, massage beds, a vertical farm, beehives, a rooftop garden, and restaurants.

In a statement, CEO of Therme Group UK, David Russell, mentioned that the project’s “revised timeline” is progressing well, with groundwork expected to commence next year.

“We are on track with our revised timeline,” he stated. “The site hoardings are being installed, utility preparations have begun, and ground works will start in 2025, featuring a design that aims to create a landmark development symbolising wellbeing innovation.”

The latest design for Therme Manchester has been refined and submitted to Trafford Council as a ‘section 73’ update to the existing planning permission.

The updated design emphasises sustainability, visitor experience, and architectural excellence, as noted by TraffordCity in a statement.

The resort will incorporate energy-efficient systems such as heat pumps and will minimise the use of glass, steel, and concrete. Advanced design efficiencies are expected to significantly lower the site’s CO2 emissions and water consumption.

Moreover, improvements have been made to the visitor arrival experience at the south entrance of Therme Manchester, along with expanded public areas within the 28-acre resort.

£250m Water Park and Wellbeing Resort

Therme Manchester is dedicated to establishing a destination that prioritises the wellbeing of both individuals and the environment,” Russell remarked.

“We are thrilled to witness the excitement and positive feedback from Manchester and beyond, and we will keep the community updated on the project’s progress. Therme Manchester is a large, complex project with significant community implications.”

Plans for Therme Manchester received approval from Trafford Council last year, and Therme Group has already implemented several enhancements to the project.
