The Rise of Icarus: Unveiling the Tallest Water Slide in the Americas

The Rise of Icarus, showcasing the tallest water slide in the Americas, has officially launched for the 2024 summer season.

A collaborative effort between Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park, the architectural firm Ramaker, and WhiteWater, the Rise of Icarus stands as a 160-foot tall slide tower that features four AquaTubes and a Freefall. Adorned with vibrant colours, this structure vividly retells the legend of Icarus in a truly exhilarating manner. The main attraction, a High-Speed AquaTube named “The Fall,” propels riders from a staggering height of 145 feet (44 m), along a 780-foot (237 m) course, reaching speeds of up to 30 mph (48 km/h).

“The Rise of Icarus holds a special significance for our family and park as we continuously strive to introduce innovative attractions to our area,” expressed Maria Laskaris, the park’s Social Media Marketer.

“Since the opening of The Rise of Icarus, we have been overwhelmed by the positive and enthusiastic responses. Riders are eager to experience all five body slides, rushing back up the tower for more. Each slide offers a fast and exhilarating experience, truly worth the anticipation!” added Fofo Backhaus, the Director of Marketing.

Below “The Fall,” four slides of varying lengths launch riders from a height of 57 feet (17 m).

“It is always a pleasure collaborating with the Laskaris family, who consistently demonstrate that Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park not only pushes boundaries with its attractions but also provides unique guest experiences to attract visitors to the region,” remarked Onno Meeter, President of Water Parks at WhiteWater.

As a prominent destination in Wisconsin Dells, Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park has a history of making headlines. Two years ago, it introduced Medusa’s Slidewheel, the first rotating water slide in the Western Hemisphere.

Later this summer, the park is set to unveil a new outdoor kids’ area named “Icaria Splash ‘n Slide,” also designed by WhiteWater. This area will feature 10 new slides, a range of aquatic play elements, and Life Floor.
