The Chinese water park equipment manufacturing industry was relatively weak. Many large and medium-sized water park projects imported substantial amounts of high-tech water park equipment from abroad, leading to significant economic leakage for Chinese water parks. Consequently, Chinese manufacturers began developing water park equipment with independent intellectual property rights, continuously improving the localisation of water park equipment.
