Sub Sea Systems Wins Two IAAPA Expo Awards for Adapted SeaTREK

Sub Sea Systems Triumphs with Adapted SeaTREK at IAAPA Expo 2024

Sub Sea Systems, Inc. (SSS), a company specialising in immersive, memorable and hands-on encounters that educate through entertainment, has been honoured at the IAAPA Expo 2024, where it has won two prestigious Brass Ring Awards.

The company secured first place in the Water Park Ride/Attraction – Product cost of less than US$2 million category for its Adapted SeaTREK product, which also received the Impact Award.

The Impact Award recognises one winner from the Best New Product categories that the judges believe can impact the attractions sector the most.

The Adapted SeaTREK System

The double-award-winning Adapted SeaTREK is the world’s first integrated helmet diving device that includes an underwater wheelchair, making underwater adventures accessible.

This custom underwater wheelchair features an integrated air supply that works seamlessly with the SeaTREK diving helmet. The Adapted SeaTREK chair is guided into the water by an accompanying safety diver and is transported to and from the underwater trail using an aquatic lift.

Adapted SeaTREK does not require certification or swimming experience, making it accessible to participants of all physical abilities aged 8 and over. For young children, this experience can spark an interest in marine sciences, broadening perspectives, fostering a lifelong connection to the ocean, and opening up potential future careers.

Adapted SeaTREK was developed to provide visitors with restricted mobility an inclusive and accessible means of discovering the joys of underwater exploration and helmet diving. The programme prioritises safety by maintaining a 1:1 safety diver-to-participant ratio, ensuring individualised attention and assistance during the dive.

Every SeaTREK tour follows a designated path that respects and maintains appropriate distances from coral and other vulnerable marine species. Participants receive thorough briefings that include important conservation messages, emphasising the significance of preserving regional wildlife and flora, the overall health of our seas, and proactive measures that everyone can take to protect the ocean ecosystem.

Adapted SeaTREK programmes are available in Spain with Native Diving Lanzarote, and in Abu Dhabi at SeaWorld Yas Island. Additional programmes are set to launch soon in Mexico and Curacao.

Earlier this month, Sub Sea Systems showcased its innovative experiences for marine tourism and shared insights into its history, mission, and latest products.
