Sir Robert McAlpine Appointed Construction Manager for Therme Manchester


Construction Management Appointed for <b>Therme Manchester</b>

Sir Robert McAlpine has been appointed as the construction manager for Therme Manchester, the UK’s first urban wellness resort.

Therme Group has collaborated with Sir Robert McAlpine through a pre-construction services agreement and has now officially selected the company to manage the construction of this exciting project.

Therme Manchester is set to become Europe’s largest thermal pool complex, featuring both indoor and outdoor pools, over 25 waterslides, the largest sauna area in the UK, a wave pool, numerous steam rooms, botanical gardens, and immersive art installations.

David Russell, CEO of Therme UK, expressed that Sir Robert McAlpine’s “unrivalled expertise in delivering large scale, complex projects, along with a shared commitment to excellence, community and sustainability, makes them the ideal team to bring Therme Manchester to life.”

“We look forward to collaborating to deliver a project that will have a lasting positive impact on Greater Manchester and beyond,” Russell added.

UK’s First Urban Wellness Resort

Situated in the TraffordCity retail and leisure destination, Therme Manchester is a €500 million (£413m), 28-acre project.

James Whittaker, managing director of Peel Waters, the property developer behind Therme Manchester, remarked: “Following the preparation of the site and the demolition works of the former EventCity, we are now extremely pleased to see the appointment of Sir Robert McAlpine in readiness for delivering this truly transformational, unique wellness resort, which will be a complete game-changer for health, leisure, and the visitor economy in the north.”

Trafford Council Leader Tom Ross added: “The Therme Manchester project is fantastic news for Trafford, and I am delighted it is being built in our borough.

“The resort will attract millions of visitors each year to boost our economy and will provide hundreds of construction jobs and full-time positions.”

Therme Group is currently planning a global expansion, with new destinations being developed in locations such as Dubai, Canada, and across the US.
