Rixen Cableway to Supply Wakeboarding System for World Games 2025 in Chengdu
Rixen Cableway, a global leader in the design and manufacture of cable water ski and wakeboarding systems, has announced its role as the selected supplier for the cable system dedicated to wakeboarding at the 12th edition of the World Games, set to occur from 7 – 17 August 2025 in Chengdu, China.
As anticipation for the event grows, the company expresses its eagerness to showcase its reliable technology on an international platform.
To date, Rixen has supported 59 national and international wakeboarding events. Its systems are acknowledged as the gold standard in the industry—dependable, precise, and trusted by athletes and event organisers alike.
Providing a Competition-Grade System
Rixen’s state-of-the-art cableway systems are engineered for precision and durability, enabling wakeboarders to experience smooth, reliable rides while enhancing their skills. These systems come equipped with adjustable speeds and modular designs, allowing for customisation tailored to elite competitions and adaptability for various waterfronts.
In Chengdu, the cable park will not only elevate the wakeboarding event but also leave a lasting legacy. It will transform a local lake into a permanent recreational hub, attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and inspiring future wakeboarders in the vibrant southwest of China.
The World Games will bolster Chengdu’s reputation as a host for international events, with the wakeboarding cable park driving local development. By revitalising waterfront areas, the park will create job opportunities, draw tourists to nearby attractions, and encourage community initiatives such as youth clinics and festivals that promote civic pride and active lifestyles.
“We’re thrilled to support an event that celebrates non-Olympic sports, merging international excitement with Chengdu’s cultural richness,” states the firm.
Founded by Bruno Rixen in 1961, Rixen laid the foundation for a global watersports movement. By 1966, it had inaugurated its first commercial cable park. Throughout the 1990s to the 2010s, the company witnessed international expansion and undertook significant projects.
Over the years, Rixen Cableway has completed more than 500 installations across over 90 countries, ranging from private wakeboarding parks to world-class event venues.
The company offers comprehensive solutions for commercial cable park systems, featuring a water ski cableway with 5-6 towers that can be installed over water or land.
Utilising high-precision technology, the system engages riders’ tow lines via carriers on a continuous cable loop, starting from a glide ramp. It can accommodate up to 12 riders at once, serving between 300 to 500 visitors daily with low operational costs, making it a lucrative option for water sports operators.
