Norwegian Cruise Line Introduces Great Tides Waterpark in Bahamas Expansion

Exciting Developments at Great Tides Waterpark

Norwegian Cruise Line has revealed plans for the new six-acre Great Tides Waterpark as part of its expansion at Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

This expansion of the cruise line’s 270-acre private island is highlighted by the introduction of the water park, which will feature 19 thrilling waterslides and a lazy river that stretches nearly 800 feet.

Set to open in summer 2026, Great Tides Waterpark will also include swim-up bars, a splash zone covering 9,000 square feet, and what Norwegian Cruise Line describes as “the industry’s first cliffside jumps,” according to a recent press release.

“Great Stirrup Cay has always been an amazing part of the Norwegian Cruise Line guest experience and continues to be one of our highest rated destinations,” stated David Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.

“This new water park is an outstanding addition to our recent announcement about other amazing new amenities on the island soon to debut. With each phase of our enhancements, we’re bringing ashore more of what our guests love about sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line.”

New Attractions at Great Stirrup Cay

Among the highlights in the upcoming Great Tides Waterpark are the Tidal Tower, which boasts eight exhilarating waterslides, including racing and tube slides.

Cliffside Cove will feature two cliff jumps at heights of 10 and 15 feet, along with the Caribbean’s only family slide. Beneath this area, guests will discover a hidden cave bar.

The splash zone is specifically designed for children, featuring an oversized tipping bucket, eight mini slides, and various interactive water features.

The lazy river promises an immersive experience, allowing guests to float through an illuminated tunnel showcasing a “dreamlike bioluminescent scene.”

In anticipation of the water park’s launch, new experiences will be introduced later this year at Great Stirrup Cay, including a heated pool and splash pad, a multi-ship pier, a welcome plaza, and an island-wide tram service.

Attractions will also include the 1.4-acre Great Life Lagoon pool area and a recreational space called Horizon Park, which will offer games such as pickleball, mini golf, and more.
