The new terminal, spanning 165,000 square feet, will be developed from an existing cargo warehouse at the Port of Galveston in Texas, with an expected opening date in November 2025.

“Today marks a significant milestone for our community, cruise guests, and port partners,” stated Rodger Rees, the port director and CEO of Galveston Wharves.

“This stunning new terminal will not only create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region but also provide an exciting new cruise option for our market and enhance opportunities for our port partners.”

Rees further expressed, “We are excited to extend a warm, Texas-sized welcome to MSC Cruises, the world’s third-largest cruise line. The presence of such a prestigious cruise line homeporting in Galveston speaks volumes about our standing in both the US and global cruise markets.”

With the launch of the $151 million terminal, Rees anticipates that the port will welcome over 2 million passengers annually starting in 2026.
