EpicSurf Introduces Deep-Water Surf Wave at Heroes Paradise

Exciting New Deep-Water Surf Wave Experience at Heroes Paradise

EpicSurf, a stationary surf experience from the water park experts at Aquatic Development Group (ADG), has announced that its deep-water surf wave will be joining the impressive range of attractions at Heroes Paradise, a premier family entertainment venue in Brandon, Florida.

Set to open in 2025, this surf experience will feature a customisable wave designed to accommodate surfers of all ages and skill levels.

Deep Knowledge

Founded in 2020 by Julie and Tim Pennenga, Heroes Paradise spans eight acres and includes four dynamic gameplay fields along with a clubhouse that boasts facilities over two floors, offering panoramic views and a covered outdoor deck for spectators.

The venue’s attractions blend adventure and family fun, featuring the largest laser tag course in the Southeast, two remote control car tracks, archery tag, an interactive rock-climbing wall, and a flight simulator.

The Pennengas have always envisioned incorporating an aquatic or surf experience. After thorough research, discussions, and design iterations, EpicSurf was chosen as the technology partner for this surf expansion.

“The team behind EpicSurf has been fantastic to collaborate with from the very beginning,” says Julie Pennenga. “Their responsiveness and meticulous attention to detail have been crucial in keeping our project on schedule, and their deep knowledge of construction stems from years of practical experience.

“This level of expertise, combined with their credibility in the industry, gave us complete confidence that we were making the right choice. They’ve been true partners throughout the process, and their dedication to realising our vision has been remarkable.”

Accessible Surf Technology

EpicSurf has been designed with accessibility in mind, offering a customisable surf experience that caters to riders of all abilities. With just a push of a button, the rapid wave technology can adjust from three to five feet, adapting to the rider’s needs, whether they are professional surfers perfecting advanced tricks or novices trying surfing for the first time.

Heroes Paradise will feature an ES46 model with 46 feet of surfable wave width, and a footprint measuring 66 feet by 90 feet.

Riders will enjoy an enhanced surf experience with authentic finned surfboards, while retractable training bars will provide a safe and supportive learning environment.

ADG has been creating world-class aquatic experiences for over five decades and is a recognised leader in wave generation technology.

Their exclusive WaveTek wave technology is celebrated for its performance and adaptability, having been installed over 550 times globally. This showcases the company’s expertise in designing and delivering wave-based attractions, including authentic surf experiences, with exceptional precision and quality.

Bruce Quay, COO of EpicSurf, states: “We’re excited to bring our deep-water surf wave to Heroes Paradise, introducing surfing to Brandon, Florida, and providing countless individuals the opportunity to catch a wave. We believe this attraction will enhance the venue’s offerings and deliver a fresh, exhilarating experience for visitors of all ages.”

The new attraction will be a central feature at Heroes Paradise, with wave sessions occurring hourly for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders. Spectators will have access to a deck surrounding the wave, creating an immersive experience for all guests.

This development, anticipated to open by the end of the year, will introduce inland deep-water surf wave experiences to Brandon, elevating the overall experience for guests at Heroes Paradise.

Earlier this year, EpicSurf was recognised as the winner of the inclusion category at the Blooloop Innovation Awards 2024 for its collaboration with Aqua Creek to develop the world’s first standing wave access lift. This accolade underscores the growing global commitment to inclusivity within the surf industry.
