Drew Barrymore and Orlando Bloom Join MSC Cruises for New Roles
Drew Barrymore and Orlando Bloom have taken on exciting new roles with MSC Cruises to promote the highly anticipated launch of MSC World America.
Barrymore has been named the Godmother of MSC World America, the new flagship for MSC Cruises in the US.
On 9 April, she will officially christen the new ship alongside Bloom, who is currently featured in a brand campaign for MSC Cruises.
“I absolutely love to travel – it fuels my soul – and being part of something that helps people set off on incredible adventures is just amazing,” said Barrymore.
“There’s something so magical about cruises; they let you discover the world in this really fun, unexpected way.”
Following the naming ceremony, MSC World America will embark on a three-night voyage to MSC’s Ocean Cay private island in the Bahamas.
Introducing MSC World America’s New Godmother
Suzanne Salas, EVP of marketing, ecommerce, and sales at MSC Cruises USA, stated: “We value the important maritime tradition where our Godmother breaks a bottle of champagne on the hull and officially names the ship, bringing good luck and protection.
“Drew is the perfect Godmother for MSC World America, and we are thrilled to continue to partner with her for this campaign.”
Highlights on MSC World America include seven distinct districts, 19 dining venues, 18 bars and lounges, and one of the longest dry slides at sea.
Additionally, the Harbour is a new outdoor venue on the ship featuring the Cliffhanger over-water swing ride, a ropes course, a water park, a playground, and relaxation areas.
As part of his role at MSC Cruises, Bloom has showcased several new experiences on the new cruise ship, including Cliffhanger and The Harbour.
Bloom also highlighted the first-ever Dirty Dancing in Concert at sea, a 90-minute experience featuring a live band, dancers, and singers.
Other exciting offerings to look forward to, according to Bloom, include the first Eataly restaurant at sea, sports and adults-only bars, and new Lego experiences.
“MSC World America has something for everyone, whether you are into thrilling rides, world-class dining, or immersive entertainment,” Bloom remarked.
“Imagine soaring over the ocean on the Cliffhanger swing ride, dining at the only Eataly restaurant at sea, or enjoying Dirty Dancing in Concert. Every moment is unforgettable.”
Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, MSC Cruises is the world’s third-largest cruise line.
Its fleet comprises 22 ships, with three new vessels set to launch in 2025, 2026, and 2027.
