Disney Expands European River Cruises with New Itinerary

Exciting New Disney River Cruises in Southern France

Adventures by Disney is broadening its family holiday offerings in Europe with a fresh river cruise itinerary set to navigate through southern France along the Rhône river starting in 2026.

Guests will embark from Lyon, journeying through the Rhône river valley and Provence, where they will immerse themselves in the region’s rich history, culture, art, and culinary delights, all enhanced by Disney’s signature storytelling and a sprinkle of magic, according to a press release.

This eight-day, seven-night adventure aboard the AmaKristina, operated by AmaWaterways, will transport guests to five captivating destinations: Lyon, Tournon, Viviers, Avignon, and Arles. Each voyage will be guided by Disney-trained adventure experts.

Highlights of Disney’s new Disney river cruises include:

Active sightseeing opportunities such as exploring charming towns and villages by bike, kayaking beneath the iconic Roman Pont du Gard aqueduct, and experiencing the Gorges du Doux aboard a steam-powered train.

Culinary experiences that celebrate the region’s famous gastronomy, including food and wine tours in Lyon, which is home to the chef who inspired Auguste Gusteau in the beloved Disney and Pixar film Ratatouille.

Art-focused activities like a walking tour of Roussillon’s Ochre Trail, followed by a painting class, and a silk-weaving demonstration in Lyon.

Immersive historical tours featuring Disney storytelling, including visits to the medieval towns of Tournon and Viviers, as well as ancient Roman ruins in Lyon and Nîmes.

Investing in Disney Signature Experiences

Adventures by Disney operates under the umbrella of Disney Signature Experiences, which also includes Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, and Storyliving by Disney.

Disney Signature Experiences, a segment of Disney Experiences, has recently appointed a new president, with former Shanghai Disney Resort president Joe Schott succeeding Thomas Mazloum.

Disney Experiences is currently undergoing an ambitious expansion plan for its cruise line business and theme parks, with a staggering investment of $60 billion allocated to this segment.

As part of this initiative, Disney Cruise Line aims to double the size of its existing fleet by 2031.
